Family Guys Parodies Disney

Family Guy's episode, "Road to the Multiverse," portrays two of the show's main characters, baby clever and ingenious Stewie and anthropomorphic dog Brian, using a remote control to travel through a series of various parallel universes, one of them being the Disney universe, which Stewie describes as "sweet, warm, and fuzzy." The clip starts off with Stewie and Brian running "gaily," then later transitions into a song called, "It's a Wonderful Day for Pie." The cheerful and happy attitude and the singing immediately set off a Disney vibe. The characters are drawn Disney-style or patterned directly after Disney characters, but are referred to by the name of their normal parallel universe. Peter seems to appear as Geppetto from Pinocchio or "Doc" from Snow White, Lois appears as Snow White, Chris appears as Winnie the Pooh, Meg appears as Ursula from the Little Mermaid, Quagmire appears as a vague form of lago from Aladdin, Joe appears as a coffee pot which is a parody of Mrs. Potts from Beauty and a Beast, Cleveland appears a skunk which is a parody of Flower from Bambi, Mayor Adam West appears as a parody of the Dormouse from Alice in Wonderland, Tom Tucker appears as a parody of the March Hare from Alice in Wonderland or Brer Rabbit from Song of the South, and Herbert appears as the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Family Guy's parody of Disney is funny and successful if one understands the humor behind it. In this case, parody is used to imitate the techniques, styles, and qualities of Disney animations. The satire is effective because the portrayal of Disney animation is accurate, the song is melodious, and the tone of the clip is light-hearted and carefree.
